Innovative Paints Helps Cool Down Temperature

There are many different types of paints used by commercial painters in Sydney but there is a new innovative paint that is going to hit the market. Did you ever think about why countries such as Greece have homes that are all painted in white? This is because the color white reflects majority of the sunlight therefore it helps cool a house down.

According to research, this new paint will be employing materials that have passive radiative cooling ability. This means that it will help in shedding the sunlight as well as heat from the property. There are many materials that can do this but the challenge is in applying this new paint to the current materials that make up the roofs and walls of houses. A team of researchers from the United States was able to get a breakthrough by creating what they refer to as a cooling paint that can be used in any surface material thereby reducing the temperature by around 6 degrees C.

According to University of Colorado’s material scientist, Xiaobo Yin, this new discovery helped the industry take a big step forward. Yin’s team is the one responsible for developing the plastic film that has a passive radiative cooling property and they decided to launch their own startup company called Radi-Cool in order to present the product into the commercial market.

Yin added that the new materials can help cool down a house in some climates by as much as 15 per cent. This number is already quite big considering that the country’s residential properties take up a big part of the electrical consumption because of using air conditioning systems. This is bound to help homeowners save as much from their electric bills.

When white paint is used, the amount of visible light that is reflected is about 80 per cent. Not to mention that it does not stop the material from absorbing UV and near-IR rays which contributes in warming a residential building. The new cooling paint is something that commercial painters in Sydney will be happy about because it does not only reflect sunlight but UV and near-IR rays as well.
